A Grid -Connected Solar Roof Top Photovoltaic Power System is an electricity generating system that is connected to the utility grid. A grid Connected PV System consists of Solar panels, one or more Invertors, AC/DC Cables, ACDB/DCDB, Earthing Protections etc. and Grid Connection equipment, supplies the power to utility grid.

How to Calculate On-Grid Solar System’s size for your House/Factory etc

Average daily consumption in kWh can be calculated from the electricity bill as follows:

  • Calculate the monthly average energy consumption from last 12 months’ electricity bill.
  • Let us consider a Monthly average consumption in units for a consumer is 400 units (after averaging for 12 months)
  • Daily average unit consumption can be calculated by dividing the monthly unit consumption by 30
  • Average daily consumption is 13.3 kWh /day approximately 14 units
  • Now 1 KW of Solar System generates 4 units / day (Average generation in India).
  • So, to generate 14 units per day we will require approx. 3.5 kW of Solar System.
